Clematis after Shower: Description
“Clematis after Shower” is one of my favourite paintings. I had just watered this beautiful plant and I was struck by the beads of water glistening in the sunshine. I have tried to capture the sparkling globules nestling on the waxy petals. Their shapes and positions are not randomly scattered, as I originally thought. Indeed, closer study shows how they follow the undulating surfaces. I wanted to represent this as faithfully as possible, so I mapped out individual droplets by eye, which became a labour of love!
