Approach to The Saxon Mill: “Almost There!”

Approach to The Saxon Mill: Description

This ancient pathway will be familiar to hikers and local dog walkers when walking across the fields, alongside the river Avon near Warwick.  It’s the last leg of the approach to The Saxon Mill pub. Hence the title, “Almost There!”. Negotiating the heaving cobbles is a tricky affair, but soon rewarded by a wonderful view from the wooden bridge over the millpond towards the ruins of Guy’s Cliffe House (also featured in another of my paintings). Each time I cross, I feel a tingle of excitement, imagining people from the past treading the same stones.

Medium: Acrylic Paint on Winsor & Newton Canvas Board (medium grain cotton)
Dimensions: H 515 mm x W 420 mm inc. frame
AVAILABLE: £300 + P&P

“Almost There !” is the title of this painting which portrays an ancient and rickety cobbled path. Weathered fencing lines the path on the right whilst newer posts have been erected on the left. Trees overhang the path which leads to a set of old wooden steps and footbridge across to the Saxon Mill country pub, by the river Avon, Warwick.
