Portrait of a cricket fan: Description
I created this picture using two source photographs. The background is Newlands cricket ground, Capetown which we visited on holiday. I took a snap of my husband some weeks later, recreating his white cricket gear from on-line sports clothing ads. I included lots of details as a memento of Newlands, but I did blur out the writing on the noticeboard behind so as not to detract from the portrait itself. The supporters flags, just visible on the perimeter, include Barmy Army banners. I changed what was originally a West Ham F. C. flag to a Leeds United flag in deference to my husband’s favourite team. (Apologies to “Hammers” fans!).
As this is a portrait of a cricket fan, I chose the tile, “…I love it!” In homage to the song by 10CC, “I don’t like cricket (I love it)”.
